Why conduct an employee engagement survey?

Employee feedback is essential to helping the campus identify what it is doing well and where it can improve. This survey will measure employee opinions and provide an opportunity for employees to provide feedback.  The survey results will be used to identify specific initiatives that will help the campus become an even better place to work.

Has the campus conducted previous employee engagement surveys?  What was done with the data?

Yes, the campus conducted an employee engagement survey in 2006.  One theme from the 2006 results highlighted the need for greater recognition of employee efforts.  In response, the Department of Human Resources created employee recognition guidance and enhanced its outreach to campus departments to aid in the development of recognition programs.  This outreach and guidance resulted in a 237% increase in the number of recognition programs created between 2006 and 2007. A total of 144 additional recognition programs have been created on campus since 2006.

Who will administer the survey?

The Boulder campus has partnered with a third-party vendor, Infosurv, to administer the upcoming survey.

When will the survey take place?

The online survey will launch on January 23, 2012. Infosurv will send personal email invitations to employees’ work email address.  The survey will be open for three weeks.

No. Supervisors will not have access to individual survey responses.

How much time will it take to complete the survey?

The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.

Am I able to use work time in order to complete the survey?

Yes. The survey is being administered in order to provide meaningful feedback to shape future campus initiatives. Employees should be provided time during their work day to complete the survey.

What topics will the survey cover?

The survey will include a series of questions about topics such as career opportunities, compensation and benefits, co-workers and team dynamics, and work-life balance.

Why should I participate?

Your feedback matters and will give us a better understanding of employee opinions and needs.  Your responses will help shape future campus human resources related initiatives.

Additionally, participation in the survey will qualify you to win one of five $100 gift-cards.

How will surveys be made available to employees without easy access to a computer?

The Department of Human Resources, in collaboration with the campus Communication and Access Team and individual campus departments, have arranged for both technical and translation services to meet campus needs.  Open computer-lab sessions (similar to those for open enrollment) will be offered in Spanish, Laotian, and Chinese. Refer to the open-lab schedule to view a list of available sessions.

How will results be shared?

Highlights of the survey findings will be posted on the employee engagement results page in Spring 2012.
