Officer and Exempt Professionals (OEP)
Officer and exempt professional (OEP) positions are eligible under the Colorado exemption statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135) to be exempted from the rules, procedures and regulations that govern the state of Colorado personnel system. OEP positions are subject to all other applicable federal and state law and regulations, as well as laws and policies set forth by the University of Colorado Board of Regents and other University and Boulder campus policies. OEP positions are non-classified and non-faculty.
Officer and exempt professional positions provide leadership, management, program development and implementation, and a variety of support services for the University’s administrators, faculty, staff, students, and visitors. An FAQ is available to answer questions about exemptions of professional positions from the state personnel system and a list of classified professional titles eligible for exemption. There is also a Classified/OEP Comparison Chart that provides information comparing the classified and exempt professional systems.
For a list of policies and resources that apply to OEP, refer to the Officer and Exempt Professional Resource Guide provided by CU System Administration. For OEP resources specific to the Boulder campus, refer to the OEP Process Guide and the links to the left.
