Leave / Time Off

Leave Sharing
The Leave Sharing Program is a pool of donated vacation hours for the benefit of University of Colorado at Boulder and System Administration classified employees, officers, exempt professionals and faculty members (including research faculty) on 12 month appointments. Qualified applicants include employees who: are experiencing a catastrophic or life-threatening medical hardship, either personally or as a primary caregiver; have suffered loss from a catastrophic natural or accidental disaster at their residence; are first responders to such catastrophes; or are on active duty in the military and are experiencing a financial hardship.
Parental Leave
Parental Leave includes Family Medical Leave and leave under the Administrative Policy Statement entitled Parental Leave for Faculty, Officers and Exempt Professionals for the birth, adoption and care of a child.

Family Medical Leave
The University of Colorado at Boulder (UCB) recognizes the need for eligible employees to use leave for the birth or adoption of a child, an employee’s own serious health condition or for an employee to care for a parent, child or spouse who has a serious health condition, for an employee to care for a parent, spouse, child or next of kin who is an injured service member, or due to a qualifying exigency when a parent, child or spouse is called up for active military duty.
Disability Insurance
Employees may be eligible to receive disability insurance benefits including Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, and PERA Disability.
Other Leave
Other leaves include Holiday, Bereavement, Jury, Military, On-the-Job Injury, Victim Protection and Volunteer Firefighter Leave.
